Information and Referral                          

East Alabama Commission AAA offers Information and Referral services that are available to assist older adults and their caregivers in locating various services and support in their area.  Trained Information and Referral (I&R) Specialists can be reached by calling 1-800-AGE-LINE.

 Alabama Connect is one of our most useful resources in helping locate services for seniors in our ten-county region, and is a statewide database created jointly by the Alabama Department of Senior Services and the Area Agencies on Aging.

      Below are just a few of the benefits this informational database offers:

  • Provides information on services available to seniors and their caregivers

  • Includes a wide range of agencies and organizations that provide services to the aging

  • Standardizes the information and referral services offered by agencies in Alabama

  • Contains agency/organization profiles that provide general and detailed information on the services offered

  • Search capabilities matching services to individual needs in their area

  • Allows consumers a comprehensive description of services available for older adults, while giving them a consumer-directed choice

  • Resource specialists who can access the system and respond to requests and questions from older adults and their family members

  • Provides an excellent source for providers of aging and long-term care services in our region to make their services known to the public

Another tool utilized by Information and Referral specialists is BenefitsCheckup. Developed and maintained by The National Council on Aging (NCOA), BenefitsCheckUp is the nation's most comprehensive Web-based service to screen for benefits programs for seniors with limited income and resources.
