OTHER PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

The Commission, in conjunction with the Office of Continuing Education at Jacksonville State University, presents an annual government training program. Up to six training seminars are offered annually. These sessions are generally coordinated with the Commission’s Board meeting.

The Commission's staff assists local governments with hazard mitigation grant applications, administration of projects, and hazard mitigation plan preparation. The Commission has also provided assistance with the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) Disaster response efforts. In addition, the Commission provides administrative support to the Alabama Chemical Demilitarization Citizens’ Advisory Commission with funding from U.S. Department of the Army.

The Commission’s staff provides administrative support to the East Central Alabama Solid Waste Disposal Authority. This is a multi-jurisdictional organization established by city and county governments in an eight-county area to seek solutions to solid waste management needs.
